Saving a Draft Outlook Message |

|
At times you may want to work on a message but wait a while to send the message. For example, you may have to wait to send a message you started if you have to wait on some information for a report the message contains. Waiting to send the message is particularly important if you are emailing about anything that is emotionally charged. (Most emotionally sensitive subjects really shouldn’t be addressed via email but in person. If you must use email, it’s always better to delay sending the message until you have had some time to think about what you wrote.) For instances such as these you can save the message as a draft email so that you can come back to it later.
Creating a Draft Outlook Email Message- Click on the New button to open a new message.
- Skip the TO:, CC:, and BCC fields for now. (That way if you accidentally hit the send button before you are ready, it won’t go anywhere.)
- Tab to the Subject field and type the message subject.
- Tab into the message area and fill in as much of the message as you can.

- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes to the Save message.

- The saved draft will be stored in the Drafts folder. The folder will appear in boldface with the number of draft messages it contains.

Retrieving a Draft Outlook Message- In the folder list click on the Drafts folder to view its contents
- Double-click on the desired draft message header to open.

- Complete the message, fill in the recipients in the TO:, CC: and BCC: fields and set any desired message options (Importance, read receipts, etc.)
- Click Send.
