Lock Column or Row Headers in Excel |
When scrolling in a large Excel worksheet you sometimes loose your headers and it is difficult to remember what was in a particular column or row. Here is how you can remedy that situation.
- Place the active cell below and to the right of the column & row to lock. To lock column titles in row 1 only, place the active cell in A1. If you want to lock column titles in row 1 AND row titles in column A, select cell B2.
- Office 2003- Click on Window, Freeze Panes on the menu.
Office 2007- Click on the View Tab of the Ribbon and choose Freeze Panes.

Option 1: Freezes both row and column where you have placed your active cell Option 2: Freezes the top row only. Option 3: Freezes the first column only.
Now when you scroll your titles will stay visible. |
